Ebro is a small town in rural Washington County, Florida. It had a population of 250 in 2000, according to the U.S. Census, and there are just 116 housing units. Visitors who don't stay with friends or family in Ebro have the option of spending the night in the town's one motel, the Ebro Motel, or of booking a room in one of the many beachfront hotels in nearby Panama City.
The Ebro Motel, which was renovated in 2007, is located on Highway 20 at the intersection of Highway 79 in northwest Florida. It offers non-smoking and smoking rooms and home cooking. It has a pool and soda machines for guests' use. A gas station and Ebro Cafe, the town's only restaurant, are within walking distance.
Washington County Kennel Club is located near Ebro Motel and features a dog track where locals watch dog races and snack on food for sale. Pet boarding services are also available. Ebro consists mostly of land that is used for agricultural purposes, so residents have to travel outside of town to access basic dining, shopping and entertainment options, including grocery stores, retail shopping and movie theaters. Panama City is about half an hour to the southeast; the nearest major metropolitan area, Tallahassee, is two hours to the northeast.
Visitors to Ebro who want to stay in the city have several hotel options in Panama City that are near the beach. Options range from inexpensive chain hotels to luxury resorts. The Holiday Inn offers standard hotel accommodations as well as a wide variety of family-friendly activities, including a room where kids can play video games and watch movies. The Majestic Beach Resort offer luxury amenities such as half a mile of private beach, day cruises, an outdoor pool bar, tennis courts, a fitness center and market where you can purchase food to go and get Starbucks coffee.
Tourists flock to Panama City for its metropolitan atmosphere and nearby beaches. The drive from Ebro to Panama City Beach is just 30 minutes. The city boasts amusement parks, miniature golf, luxury hotels, restaurants, bars, museums and other forms of entertainment that are appropriate for visitors of all ages. Restaurants include fast food chains such as KFC and McDonald's as well as a wide variety of independent, locally owned eateries serving Indian, Chinese, Mexican and other cuisines.
