Pet Friendly Cottages at North Carolina Beaches

Much of North Carolina's 300-mile coast belongs to the state's Division of Parks and Recreation, so the beaches and other coastal areas are accessible to the public for exploration of dunes, beachcombing, picnicking and camping and visiting lighthouses and historical sites. Beach cottages of all sizes, many of which are pet friendly, are available for vacationers to rent year 'round. North Carolina offers a variety of pet friendly beaches and coastal areas, including Oak Island beaches, Carolina Beach Lake Park, Cape Lookout and Cape Hatteras National Seashores, Topsail Beach, Kitty Hawk Beaches, Outer Banks, Portsmouth, Jockey's Ridge State Park in Nags Head and others.

    The Beach Cottage

    • Just across the street from the cottage is a dog friendly beach.

Oak Island is the only beach in North Carolina that is pet friendly year 'round. According to DogFriendly.com, "from mid-November to about the 1st of April dogs may be off lead if they are under strict voice control. Dogs must be under their owner's control, leashed April to November, and cleaned up after at all times."

The Beach Cottage has two bedrooms, TVs, DVD/VCR players, games, books and videos, a chef-equipped kitchen, ceiling fans, knotty pine hardwood floors, a covered porch, wireless Internet service and charcoal grill. Guests enjoy morning coffee and outdoor meals at the cottage's picnic tables and take advantage of the beach access across the street and the close proximity of shopping in Southport, great restaurants, the Ocean Crest fishing pier and the point where you can collect seashells unique to southeastern North Carolina.
