Cherokee is a small town in western North Carolina that is the headquarters for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. The town also is home to Harrah's Cherokee casino, which is the largest tourist attraction in North Carolina, according to the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce website. Cherokee also is a popular outdoor destination because it is at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and near the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is a popular scenic route. Several choices for motels are available in Cherokee as well.
