Big Rock Cabins are not one of those resorts where the cabins are built almost on top of one another. There are just two secluded cabins, hidden away in the forest in the foothills of the Appalachians in southern Ohio. The cabins sleep just two adults and are fitted out with just about everything that you can think of. In fact, all you need to take with you for a perfect weekend are some clothes and some food. The kitchen is fitted out with everything except a conventional oven. The DVD player has a pile of movies to choose from, and there's a full-sized hot tub on a covered deck. You'll even see a well stocked bird feeder. There's plenty to keep you occupied nearby too. You can take a horseback trail ride at Union Stables six miles away, go hunting and fishing within walking distance, or go hiking in the Lake Katherine Nature Preserve.
The HideAway Country Inn is located in Bucyrus, halfway between Columbus and Toledo. You can combine the visit with a ride in a hot air balloon, a theater trip to nearby Marion City, enjoy a decadent chocolate lovers' weekend or one of several other romantic packages. The Inn was purchased by its present owners in 1990 and has been continually upgraded year after year since then, and in 2008 started to include fun package weekends including scavenger hunts, mystery dinners, massages and many more weekends with a "difference."
The Lazy Lane Cabins are located in the Hocking Hills in the far southeast of the state. The complex has more than 30 rustic cabins and vacation homes, each of which is in its own acreage of between three and 80 acres to ensure that you get privacy. With the exception of one cabin, all have a fully equipped kitchen. There are a number of specials that you can book that will make that short getaway into something special. You can have a traveling chef come to your cabin to make a mouthwatering dinner for two. They can also organize a masseur, a photographer or just a dozen roses.
