The Lone Mountain Ranch is situated at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Big Sky, Montana. Children are catered to with the inclusion of the Outdoor Youth Adventures program. Young people 4 to 18 years of age get to spend all day, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., as a group going fly fishing, exploring the Yellowstone National Park or kayaking. Parents are welcome to watch but are discouraged from participating in this youth-only program. If you are vacationing during the winter months, you can visit one of the local ice skating rinks on your way home from the ranch.

C Lazy U Ranch and Resort, near the Rocky Mountains in Granby, Colorado, offers activities just for children. The dude ranch runs a youth program for young people 3 to 18 years of age with activities such as scavenger hunts, water sports and archery. Children spend the day together learning about dude ranches and making friends with one another. Parents do not participate in the youth program and only eat breakfast and spend the night with their children who will love the freedom of this vacation. The best time for families to visit the ranch resort is during the summer, holidays and winter season. Kids under three stay free during certain weeks throughout the year.
