The Nick Hotel was built for kids. At the water park, you'll find the Lagoon Pool, which has a 400-gallon water dump tank that randomly spills green slime. Also at the water park, you'll see interactive water toys and a kids' play area. Most hotels have a gift shop, but the Nick Hotel isn't like most hotels. Instead, it has a mall complete with souvenir shops, a food court, a lounge for you to kick back in, and a kids' spa. Head on over to the 4-D experience at the 4-D theater where, according to the hotel website, "wind, water, bubbles, scents and SLIME transport you to a multi-dimensional adventure." This hotel is truly one of a kind.

While pretty much any resort at Disney will be kid-friendly, there's something to be said about looking out of your room and watching the animals of Africa roam freely down below. Specifically for kids, there is Simba's Cubhouse (the activity center open from 4:30 p.m. until midnight), Pumbaa's Fun & Games Arcade (a 24-hour game room), the Hakuna Matata playground, and Uwanja Camp (a themed water playground). All the resorts offer free transportation to the Disney parks, and you can also get to water parks Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Downtown Disney, the Winter Summerland and Fantasia Gardens golf courses, Disney's Wide World of Sports and more.

Located on St. Pete beach, both locations for Tradewinds have a daily schedule of constant activities for kids. Activities range from sand dollar art to t-shirt coloring. In addition, the hotels offer poolside bingo, other crafts and dive-in movies where kids can swim around while enjoying a movie. For even more fun, kids can take part in the KONK Club, which meets most days for three to four hours for various activities. Depending on the day, your child may participate in Wet 'N Wild, Sports Fanatic, Kids in the Kitchen or a Luau Party. Since the activities at the KONK Club vary by day and season, check the calendar to see what will be offered during your stay. The Island Grand location also includes pet-friendly accommodations and spa services you may take advantage of even if you're staying at the Sandpiper location--which offers a fully-equipped fitness center and wooden swings along the beach. Both of these hotels are located directly on the beach with clear water and white sands. Nearby, the Tampa Bay area offers plenty of entertainment for kids of all ages, including the Salvador Dali museum, Great Explorations Children's Museum and The Florida Aquarium. If you're looking for performing arts, the Mahaffey Theater, Ruth Eckerd Hall, and the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center are just a few local hot spots that frequently have performances and concerts.
