Vacations on the East Coast for Kids

When thinking of kid-friendly vacation spots on the East Coast, many automatically think of Disney World. While that's certainly a good option, there are many other vacations for families with children. From Maine to Florida, the East Coast is full of opportunities for family-friendly fun. There are a number of hotels, theme parks and activities that cater specifically to kids.

Sesame Place
- Sesame Place is a theme park which brings the popular children's show, Sesame Street, to life. Familiar Sesame Street characters are always present, walking around the park for your kids to meet. Slides, bounce houses, roller coasters and other amusement park rides will provide hours of entertainment. There's also a water park with wave pool, water slides and an interactive water adventure. Great Wolf Lodge
- Great Wolf Lodge is a hotel and indoor-water park aimed especially at children. All guests of the lodge receive admission to the water park included with the room cost. Dine on-site at kid-friendly places such as the camp-themed Camp Critter Restaurant or the Loose Moose Cottage, a buffet where kids can choose their favorites. Stay in the Wolf Den, KidCabin or KidKamp Suites, all of which feature a kids' sleeping area with bunk beds, woods-themed decorations and a TV. Nickelodeon Family Suites
- Nickelodeon Family Suites is a resort designed especially with kids in mind. All suites come with a kids' bedroom decorated with familiar TV characters. Kids can have a day of relaxation at the Kid's Spa. Adults can also get spa treatments there as well. Two water parks are located at the resort featuring attractions such as a dunk tank, water jets, flumes and water slides. If you need a break from the water, there's mini-golf, a play area and basketball courts. The on-site mall offers live shows, dining options, an arcade and stores.

Burlington, Vermont
- Take a trip to Burlington, Vermont, area to visit the Vermont Teddy Bear Company and Shelburne Farms. Shelburne Farms features a large educational center and frequently hosts educational programs where kids can learn more about farming and where there food comes from. Tour the property and visit grass-fed cows, a dairy and milking parlor, cheese making facility and barn with animals. Vermont Teddy Bear Company is close to the farm and provides factory tours where you can watch your bears being created. Be sure to spend a relaxing day on the beaches of Lake Champlain as well.
