Cruiseships for Kids Vacations

Millions of families embark on cruise vacations each year, and while most cruise lines offer children's programs, some stand out as truly kid friendly. The most popular cruise ships for vacations with kids include a mix of family fun, kids-only activities and onboard amenities to keep kids entertained 24 hours a day.
  1. Carnival Cruises

    • The "Fun Ships" of Carnival are a popular choice for cruise vacations with kids because of the wide range of onboard activities. The Camp Carnival program provides games, crafts and outdoor fun for kids ages 2 through 11. Special programs are also available for tweens and teens. Most Carnival cruise ships feature the three-deck Twister water slide. The new WaterWorks, an entire waterplay area complete with slides and fountains, is available on the Carnival Dream, Fantasy, Imagination and Inspiration.

    Disney Cruise Line

    • The Disney Wonder, Disney Magic and Disney Dream cruise ships cater to kids on vacation. Onboard activities include Disney character appearances, a family lounge and nightclub, children's activity center, special deck space for tweens and teens, a nursery, first-run Disney movies and special pools just for kids. On Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, there is a special stretch of beach just for families and one for teens.

    Norwegian Cruise Line

    • Norwegian Cruise Line's cruise ships offer the Kid's Crew and Teen's Crew programs for kids on vacation, with supervised activities such as arts and crafts, games, movies and themed parties. Onboard activities for the whole family include bowling, water slides, a sports deck, Wii and arcade. Norwegian's partnership with Nickelodeon allows kids on select cruises aboard the Norwegian Jewel and Epic to interact with characters such as Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants.

    Royal Caribbean Cruise Line

    • Royal Caribbean cruise ships offer a variety of vacation activities for kids. The Adventure Ocean Youth Program is available for kids of all ages, from infants to teens. Developed with partners such as Crayola and Fisher-Price, activities include themed parties, games, art and science experiments.
