Las Vegas for Kids Vacations

Although Las Vegas is the ultimate party town and has the nickname Sin City, it has many family-friendly activities. From kid-friendly hotels and shows to family-centered attractions, Las Vegas offers a fun-filled vacation for kids and adults alike.
  1. Kid-Friendly Hotels

    • Several Las Vegas hotels, including Circus Circus, New York New York, Luxor, Flamingo and the Hilton, allow up to two children share a room with their parents for free. Many hotels offer on-site child-care facilities or babysitting services and also feature kid-friendly activities and attractions such as a circus, theme park or an aquarium.

    Kid-Friendly Shows

    • While a performance featuring the famous Las Vegas showgirls may be too mature for children, there are many other family-friendly shows available on the Strip. Among them are the Tournament of Kings dinner theater at the Excalibur and the World's Largest Permanent Circus at Circus Circus. Children of all ages may also enjoy performances by magician Lance Burton, Gregory Popovich's Comedy Pet Theater and Disney's "The Lion King" production.

    Museums, Zoos and Animal Exhibits

    • Toddlers to teenagers are entertained by a visit to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, the Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand, the Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage and the gardens at the Flamingo to see live Chilean flamingos, Mandarin ducks and colorful koi. For an educational experience away from the casinos, spend some time at the Natural History Museum or the interactive Lied Children's Museum.

    Attractions

    • From chocolate to a circus, you are sure to find an attraction suitable for every age and interest in Las Vegas. Spend the day at the five acre indoor theme park, Adventuredome at Circus Circus, visit Madam Tussuads wax museum, spike your adrenaline at the indoor cart racing at Pole Position Raceway or explore four floors of chocolate wonderland at M&M's World. Anyone with a sweet tooth will also enjoy a trip to Ethel M Chocolate, located just seven miles from the Strip the confectionary offers free admission, samples and a behind-the-scenes view of the candy-making process.

    Day Trips

    • Take a break from the casinos and plan a family excursion to admire the architectural wonders of Hoover Dam, which is located approximately 25 miles from Las Vegas. Go hiking in the scenic Red Rock Canyon, which is about 15 miles from the Strip, or have some fun boating, fishing or sightseeing at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area which is about 70 miles from Las Vegas.
