The Circus Circus hotel is home to the Adventuredome, a five-acre indoor theme park featuring rides, including a double cork-screw roller coaster, a waterfall ride and a Sponge Bob Squarepants ride. The emphasis is on thrill rides and most of the rides require riders to be at least 42- to 48-inches tall. Tickets are available for individual rides and all-day ride passes are available.
The Fremont Street Experience is a true Las Vegas production, boasting a projection canopy screen that covers the length of five football fields and contains 12.5 million synchronized LED lights that can produce millions of colors. It is one of the most technologically advanced light and sound shows in the world and attracts approximately 20 million visitors a year. The shows begin nightly at dusk in the "old Las Vegas" area of downtown, and admission is free.
If your family enjoys the outdoors, be sure to take them for a hike in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, only a few miles west of Las Vegas. Encompassing 197,000 acres, there are plenty of hiking trails to experience. Maps are available in the visitors' center. If your visit is in the spring, be sure to enjoy the desert wildflowers in bloom.
If your family has a sweet tooth, indulge it with a trip to the Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Gardens. Located in Henderson, Nevada, 15 minutes from the Vegas Strip by automobile, you'll experience a behind-the-scenes look at the chocolate-making process, sample chocolates in the Chocolate Lounge, and take a stroll through the three-acre cactus garden, featuring 300 varieties of plants.
The Circus Circus hotel hosts the world's largest permanent circus, including flying trapeze artists, jugglers and body contortionists. The free performances take place every half hour from 11 a.m. to midnight. Entrance is free, and it's advisable to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the show to secure a good viewing spot.
