Whenever traveling with children, there are always challenges presented. But when you visit an adult play land such as Las Vegas, it can be more difficult to find ways to keep the kids busy and entertained. Here are a few simple ideas.
The Circus Circus Casino and Hotel offers a variety of activities for children. These include the daily, live circus acts, in a big top surrounded by a large arcade. There's also Adventuredome, which stretches five acres, according to www.circuscircus.com. There are rides for small children as well as a full-sized roller coaster for older youths.
Where else but the Vegas strip can you find a pyramid next to a medieval castle? The Luxor, shaped like a pyramid, has an Ancient Egyptian theme. The Excalibur tells the tale of King Arthur and the Round Table. Guests are treated to live horses, sword fights and a number of other events during the Tournament of Kings dinner show.
Also on the strip is M&M World. The four-story gift shop/candy haven can be a treat for children of all ages. There's also a 3-D theater with a candy themed movie. Admission is free.
The Stratosphere Hotel and Casino stands tall near the end of the strip. There's a 1,149-foot tower, including an observation level that overlooks the city. Also located on top of the tower are thrill rides with different levels of intensity, including Insanity--The Ride, the Big Shot and X-Scream.
Commonly referred to as "downtown" in Las Vegas, Fremont Street has an amazing light and sound show nightly. With 12.5 million LED modules and a 550,000-watt sound system, the dazzling display extends the length of more than five football fields.
Located 35 miles south of Las Vegas, a trip to Hoover Dam is a very educational and exciting experience. Built in 1930 and towering 725 feet above the Colorado Rive, the dam is a National Historic Landmark.
