Obtain passports and a visa to China. Passports can be obtained by filling out the application forms available at the local post office, sending in the application with passport size photos and all relevant information and then waiting. It can take around a month or so before passports can come in, so plan ahead and get the passports as early as possible. Visas are obtained by filling out the appropriate paperwork on the Chinese Embassy’s visa site for a tourist visa, paying the fees and giving all of the appropriate identification. A passport is often needed for a visa.
Determine the amount of money available for the trip. An international trip to China can add up, especially when going to an amusement park like Hong Kong Disneyland. The amount of available money will determine the course of the vacation. Ideally, there should be around $2,000 or more available for each traveler in the group.
Look for special deals on Hong Kong Disneyland’s website and through travel agents. Travel agents can often get better deals than planning the trip alone. Disneyland will also have special deals available, such as family packages that include hotels, meals and tickets for a certain number of days.
Reserve a hotel for the appropriate days of the vacation. Hotels can either be through Disneyland resorts or with nearby hotels. Reserve the hotel well in advance to ensure there is a room available. Keep in mind that the tourist seasons will be very busy, so hotels should be booked in advance. If obtaining a Disneyland deal, the reservation will be through the hotels associated with Hong Kong Disneyland.
Purchase plane tickets. A package deal through Disneyland will not include the tickets by plane. The costs for plane tickets will vary on the airline and the time of year. Keep in mind that waiting too long for a plane ticket can result in higher prices.
