San Francisco Bay Area Restaurants

San Francisco is located in Northern California on the Pacific Ocean, approximately 50 miles north of Santa Cruz, 25 miles southeast of Napa Valley and 75 miles southwest of the state capital of Sacramento. The Bay Area offers an array of tourist attractions such as the Haight-Ashbury district, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Park and Fisherman's Wharf. San Francisco is home to several restaurants that offer various styles of cuisine and atmospheres for locals and tourists to experience.
  1. The Cliff House

    • The Cliff House is a San Francisco Bay relic located on Ocean Beach, offering a rich history that dates back to 1863, views of the Pacific Ocean from the dining areas and two restaurants that serve lunch and dinner called Sutro's and The Bistro.

      The Cliff House also provides a champagne Sunday Brunch. Sutro's and The Bistro both provide casual environments and panoramic ocean views. Sutro's features organic produce and seafood dishes versus Bistro which serves classic San Francisco fare and an array of salads and light bites including burgers and sandwiches. Sutro's prepares cuisine such as Pacific oysters on the half shell, tuna tartare and herb-marinated sea scallops. The Bistro offers clam chowder, Bay shrimp cocktail, fish and chips and beef short ribs.

      The Terrace Room at the Cliff Houses hosts a Sunday Brunch buffet with food such as eggs, breakfast meats, salads, fruit, cheese, breads and a plethora of pastries.

    Fog City Diner

    • Fog City Diner is located in San Francisco's Marina District, on the north side of the Bay Bridge. This restaurant offers an informal dining environment, serving daily lunch and dinner and Sunday brunch.

      Appetizers include soups such as chili and clam chowder and a variety of breads including jalapeno corn bread and sourdough loafs. Small bites such as macaroni and cheese, meatball marinara sliders and yellow fin tuna are available. Fog City Diner lists sandwiches, salads and entrees such as mahi mahi tacos, pork t-bone and roasted chicken. The brunch menu consists of huevos rancheros, lamb hash, brioche French toast, pancakes and omelets.

    Chez Panisse

    • Chez Panisse offers a casual upstairs café that serves a la carte selections and a reservation-only fine-dining restaurant located upstairs that provides an entrée-fluctuating pre-fixe menu.

      Chez Panisse Café prepares fare such as wood-oven cooked eggplant parmesan, heirloom tomato gazpacho, and poached king salmon. The restaurants menu offers selections such as soft-shell crab gumbo, chanterelle mushroom lasagna, rosemary and garlic-seasoned lamb and grilled squab with roasted figs.
