• Visit South Shore Marina, situated in Passaic County, to take a sail on Greenwood Lake. You can rent a powerboat or pontoon boat for an afternoon excursion. Amenities supplied are a table, radio, Bimini shade and life jackets. You can enjoy your romantic day with up to eight people. However, you are not able to bring pets, alcoholic beverages or grills. Nor can you go tubing, wakeboarding or water skiing. Guests have access to showers and dressing rooms, and can plan a romantic picnic afterwards. In addition, you must have a valid driver's license and watch a video, lasting about 25 minutes, about how to operate the boat.

Tour the Gardens

• Schedule a 45-minute guided tour of the Skylands Manor at the New Jersey Botanical Garden, held on designated Sundays. A guide will take you through the first floor of the manor, highlighting the dining room, entrance hall, study, great hall, drawing room and library. You will see mantelpieces made from Scandinavian pine, and a room with American oak paneling, beamed ceilings and stained-glass medallions. After the tour, take a romantic walk to see the specialty gardens. Go view the Crab Apple Allée, to witness the pink blossoms along a slope, sit on the bench under the Lilac Garden or lounge along the Octagonal Pond. With the numerous gardens, there are many places you can go to have a romantic getaway.

Eat at Bella Notte's Restaurant

• Walk into the two-level Bella Notte's restaurant, located in Little Falls, to have a romantic dinner for two. Bella Notte's resembles an Italian village with stained-glass windows, large arched doorways, a balcony, tiled flooring and three charming shops: jewelry, tuxedo and a flower store.
