Gettysburg Motels

President Abraham Lincoln addressed the nation at Gettysburg on November 19, 1863, after the bloodiest Civil War battle. He declared that a part of the Gettysburg battlefield would be dedicated "as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that this nation might live." The three-day Gettysburg battle resulted in more than 50,000 fatalities. The Union troops occupied an area near Cemetery Ridge while the Confederate soldiers gathered along Seminary Ridge. General Robert E. Lee ordered an assault on the Union troops, but the Union brigade, under the command of General George G. Meade, won the battle, at great cost. When you travel to Pennsylvania to tour this historic town, consider staying in a Gettysburg motel.
