Pigeon Forge is located in Sevier County, Tenn., several miles north of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is considered a great family vacation destination because it has so much to do. Also located in Sevierville, the Wilderness at the Smokies is the largest waterpark resort in Tennessee. The Wilderness has three waterparks, one indoor and two outdoor, on its premises. The Wild Water Dome Indoor Waterpark is the Wilderness’ 60,000-square-foot indoor waterpark. It is open 365 days a year and has a water raft ride, a surfing area, and two tube slides. The Lake Wilderness is one of the two outdoor water parks. It has a creek and a raging-rapids area that are perfect for water tubing. There are also cabana rentals and towel services available. Salamander Springs is the other outdoor waterpark and has a 150-foot tube slide that dumps out into a 500-gallon pool. There is also an activity pool designated for water sports such as basketball and a shallow splash pool that is perfect for toddlers.
