How to Sleep With No Bed or Chair

You are in trouble with your partner. Perhaps you were caught smoking in bed. Possibly, your bed was lost in a bad hand of poker. Or maybe you have just moved in somewhere and you are waiting for your bed to arrive. It does not matter, because it is still possible to get a reasonably restful eight hours of sleep. With or without a bed or a chair, there are ways to get a good night's rest.

Instructions

    • 1

Sleep in a hammock. Weather permitting, hang a hammock between two trees and be lulled to sleep by the gentle swaying. It is possible to hang a hammock indoors as well. Be sure to find the studs in the wall and use sturdy nails or hooks.

    • 2

Sleep in a tent. A tent will provide you some protection from the elements. Depending on the size of your tent, some can even be used indoors. Dream you are camping in some far-off forest or jungle.

    • 3

Sleep in a bathtub. Make sure your feet and not your head are under the faucet in case of a leak or you are suddenly jarred from your slumber. Leave the shower curtain open in case someone decides on an early shower before you wake up.

    • 4

Sleep on a table. A kitchen or dining-room table should be big enough to accommodate a sleeping adult. Consider a large coffee table as well. This might be a safer way to go should you roll off the table.

    • 5

Sleep on the floor. Choose a low-traffic area of the house when you have to sleep on the floor. Avoid having any floor vents blowing directly on you. Keep all bedding away from heating vents.

    • 6

Sleep on a sofa. Pretend you fell asleep while watching late-night television. Remember to move any tables or small items from the floor in case you fall off the couch.

    • 7

Sleep in a locked car. Find a safe place to park and curl up in the backseat. Under no circumstances should you leave the car running if there is a chance you could fall asleep before turning it off. Carbon monoxide poisoning is a real and deadly threat, even if the windows are slightly opened.
