How to Let Air Out of Aerobeds

Inflatable beds, also called air beds, are convenient because they are easy to store and quick on the draw in emergency sleeping situations. If you are sleeping in a tent while on the road, an inflatable bed can help pad against rocks or uneven ground, and an on-hand air bed can be great for putting up guests. The controls on air beds are simple and easy to use when it is time to deflate the bed for relocation or storage.

Things You'll Need

  • Electrical outlet

Instructions

  1. Release Valve

    • 1

Unplug the bed from its power source.

    • 2

Open the release valve, located on one end of the bed. The air should flow quickly out of the bed through the valve.

    • 3

Gently but tightly roll the bed from the end opposite the release valve, pushing out the remaining air. Roll the bed until you have pushed out as much of the air as you can.

    • 4

Close the release valve. Cover and store your air bed.

    Pump Deflation

    • 5

Turn the pump to the "Deflate" position, facing out.

    • 6

Plug the pump power cord into a wall outlet.

    • 7

Press the "Pump" button on the controller to deflate the bed.

    • 8

Tightly and gently roll the bed toward the pump to push stranded air toward the pump. When the bed is completely rolled and all the air is out of the bed, release the button.

    • 9

Carefully cover and stow the deflated bed and power cord in a safe, dry place free of sharp objects.
