How to Combine Air Miles

If you fly a lot but use different airlines, you may want to combine your air miles from the various airlines in order to qualify for a free ticket. It is easy to do this using a free account at Points.com.

      Open a web browser on your computer and go to Points.com (see Resources 1). Points.com is a free tool that allows you to track the balances of all of your points-earning accounts, including airlines and hotels. It also allows you to combine your rewards points or miles into other programs.

      Click on “Join Points.com” to create a new account if you do not already have one.

      Add your air miles accounts to your new Points.com account. Enter the air miles rewards account number, such as your AAdvantage number for American Airlines miles, and the zip code you have on file with your air miles account. Click “Register this Program” to have the balance show up in your tracker. Do this for all of your air miles accounts.

      Click “Swap” at the top of the screen. This will allow you to swap out your air miles for other air miles to combine all of your air miles in the same account.
