Log onto your airline's website and find their proprietary section regarding the use of the air miles. Enter in your account number and password and check your available miles balance. Write this number down.

    • 2

Decide what you wish to convert your miles into. Check the website for hotel benefits, magazine subscriptions, flights and other perks. Calculate the approximate dollar value of these benefits. If your airline offers a flight within the continental USA or Canada for 25,000, log onto their bookings page to find out what those flights cost in actual dollars. If the flight costs $450 dollars, your value per mile works out to be about 2 cents. Compare this to using air miles for a magazine subscription which usually requires 5,000 miles. You may find that the magazine subscription would equal a dollar value of $60 to $70.

Click on the perk or benefit you decide on using your air miles for. Follow the online prompts to make the conversion. Enter in all the information needed to redeem travel perks or benefits.
