Mackinac Island RV Parks Along the Water

Mackinac Island, pronounced and sometimes spelled as Mackinaw Island, is Michigan's oldest state park. About 80 precent of this Lake Huron island, a few miles west of St. Ignace, Michigan, is a state park. No camping or RV parks are permitted on the island.



The island is served by regular ferry services and is easy to reach from three nearby RV parks along the water in Mackinaw and St. Ignace.
  1. Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping

    • Mackinaw Mill Creek was named a top family friendly campground by a Detroit newspaper.

      Located on a mile long stretch of shoreline, with views of Mackinac Bridge and Island, Mackinaw Mill Creek Camping has 600 campsites, 200 with full hook-ups. Wi-Fi is available for a small fee. The camp's heated pool opens from early June to Labor Day and the camp itself operates from May to late September. Most RV sites at this camp are 25 feet by 50 feet but the camp also boasts some of the largest XL RV sites in the region, reaching to 50 by 50 and 45 by 55 feet. A regular, free shuttle service takes guests to the Mackinac Island Ferry Dock, five minutes away.

      Mill Creek Camping has been family run since 1963. It was named the Top Family Friendly Campground by the "Detroit News."

    Tee Pee Campgrounds

    • A nightly beach campfire is a feature of Teepee Campgrounds.

      Family-owned Tee Pee Campgrounds is a well established Mackinaw RV Park on the water. Close to both the Mackinac Island Ferries and downtown Mackinaw City, the RV park has 400 feet of Lake Huron shore, with good views of the Mackinac Straits, bridge and island. Tee Pee is a partner of the popular Good Sam RV Club and has held a 4-star rating from the club for several decades.

      The camp has 100 open and shaded sites, for trailer, RV or tent camping. All have water. Hook-ups include 20, 30 and some 50 amp electric service. Every site has a campfire ring and a picnic table. A special feature of Tee Pee Campgrounds is a campfire on the beach every night, weather permitting. Free Wi-Fi is available from an office hot spot, or for a fee from the sites. The camp is open mid May to mid October.

    Lakeshore Park Campground

    • Lakeshore Park guests can enjoy sunsets on Lake Michigan.

      Lakeshore Park Campground, just outside of St. Ignace on Upper Peninsula Michigan, faces west across Lake Michigan. Though RV camping is not directly on the water, the park's shore front is just across a quiet country road. The park's full hook-up, pull RV sites vary from 25 feet wide to 30 feet wide. All sites are at least 60 feet long, most are 70 feet and a few are longer. Open from May 1 to Oct. 15, Lakeshore Park Campground is primarily an RV park, though there are 14 tent sites. The RV park offers a free shuttle to the Mackinac Island Ferry Dock and free Wi-Fi.
