Conveniently located near Interstate 57, the Mt. Vernon Quality Times is a no-frills campground with 42 RV sites. The sites come with water, sewer and electric connections of both 30 and 50 amps. The sites also have cable TV connections, are pull-throughs and can accommodate RVs up to 60 feet. Shaded sites are available at a campground that allows pets and also has sites for campers to pitch a tent. It does not have wireless Internet, phone hook-ups or a swimming pool. On the plus side, Mt. Vernon Quality Times is the only RV park in Mt. Vernon itself. Extended stays are available.

Whittington Woods Campground, which is 16 miles south of Mt. Vernon, has pull-through RV sites that are full hookups. Both 30- and 50-amp service is available at sites that can handle big rigs. A laundry facility, restrooms and showers are located in the camping area. A dump station is also on a property that has a playground, a game room, shuffleboard and basketball courts, a swimming pool, a game room, horseshoe pits and a picnic pavilion. Whittingwood Woods also has a store that sells groceries and ice. An antique car museum is 10 minutes from the campground as well as antique shops and restaurants in the town of Benton.

The Benton KOA, which is approximately 25 minutes south of Mt. Vernon, is two miles from the 19,000 acre Rend Lake that provides many recreational activities such as fishing, hunting, boating and bird watching. Golf courses and the attractions in the town of Benton are also nearby. Its RV sites are large with maximum pull-through lengths of 98 feet. The RV sites are full hook-ups and have 50-amp service available as well as free cable TV hookups and free Wi-Fi service, Restrooms, showers, a dump station and a laundry facility are on a property that will deliver firewood to your site. The Benton KOA also has a convenience store, a pool that is open in the summer, a catch-and-release fishing pond, and a game room with pinball machines and pool tables.
