RV Parks Near Mobile, AL

The Gulf Coast city of Mobile, Ala., offers theaters, shopping and attractions such as the U.S.S. Alabama and the Mobile Carnival Museum, but options for RV camping are limited. However, Theodore, less than 20 minutes' drive southwest of Mobile, gives you several more overnight options and further attractions, including the Bellingrath Gardens.

    • The Shady Acres Campground is off the Dauphin Island Parkway exit of Interstate 10 in Mobile, Ala. This urban RV park offers 92 full hookup sites with 50 amp electrical service and 10 pull-through sites. Amenities include a separate dump station, metered propane and space for tent campers. Pets are allowed, but your motorcycle is not welcome. All sites have picnic tables and activities here include water sports, fishing in Dog River and hiking.

    Bellingrath RV Park

    • Bellingrath RV Park in Theodore, Ala., takes its name from the Bellingrath botanical gardens, located within walking distance of the RV park. The RV park offers 56 full hookup spots with gravel lots and free cable TV. On-site amenities include a swimming pool, laundry room, 24-hour security and a shelter for group get-togethers. Pets are welcome and Mobile Bay is less than 10 minutes away. This RV park offers daily, weekly and monthly rates.

    Payne's RV Park

    • Payne's RV Park in Theodore, Ala., is a family-owned park with 102 sites. About a third are back-in sites and the remainder are pull-throughs. This park is big-rig friendly with its longest spaces being approximately 70 feet long. Amenities include a laundry room, pond, and propane service. Groups may rent the pavilion and each space has a barbecue and fire pit. The RV park offers monthly, weekly and daily rates with either 30- or 50-amp service.
