Cumberland, Maryland, is a city of roughly 22,000 that serves as a commercial center for western Maryland as well as communities in nearby Pennsylvania and West Virginia.     • Set on a heavily wooded tract of more than 350 acres, this 285-site campground is near Hancock, Maryland, about 38 miles east of Cumberland. Full hookups including cable TV are available at most sites. Other amenities include a pavilion/meeting room, a general store, showers, restrooms, a dump station, a game room and self-laundry facilities.

    Hidden Springs Campground

    • Only 13 miles from Cumberland, this 127-site Pennsylvania campground is close to the Maryland state line. Full hookups are provided at 75 sites, water and electric only at 17 and no hookups at 35 sites. Eight sites are pull-throughs.

      Open from May 1 through Oct. 31, the campground offers a wide array of on-site amenities including a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, mini-golf course, a playground, picnic tables, a bathhouse and showers, self-laundry facilities, a country store, a fishing pond, a game room and badminton, basketball, shuffleboard and volleyball courts.

    Rocky Gap State Park Campground

    • Although there are few amenities, the scenic beauty of this 278-site campground might be a strong attraction for RVers with self-contained rigs. Located in a state park and only 8 miles from Cumberland, the campground provides electric hookups at only 30 of its sites and no hookups at the rest of its sites.

      The campground has a dump station and bathhouses with hot water, and the state park itself offers a swimming beach, a nature center, a game room and a camp store.

    Wapocoma Campground

    • This heavily wooded campground, located near Romney, West Virginia, 33 miles from Cumberland, offers more than 300 campsites, many of which have full hookups. Others provide water and electric only or no hookups at all.

      Other services or features include wireless Internet access, a riverfront beach, a playground, horseshoe pits, a volleyball court, a boat ramp, showers, restrooms, a pavilion and a convenience store.
