Maxie's Campground is located in Broussard, Louisiana, approximately 18 miles north of New Iberia. Mature oak trees, each of which is a transplant from the Bayou Tortue swamps, shade RV parking sites. Established in 1968, Maxie's Campground is a member of several camping clubs such as Resort Parks International and Passport America. Each RV site has 20-, 30- and 50-amp electrical hookups. The park has laundry facilities, restrooms and showers. A security control/manager lives on-site. The campground is 15 minutes from Jungle Gardens of Avery Island, which offers nature lovers a selection of walking or driving tours among a diverse collection of local flowers and plants. The island is also a bird sanctuary and home to a wide variety of birds. Bass fishing is an attraction at nearby Spanish Lake.

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park lies approximately 28 miles from New Iberia and offers improved and premium campsites along the shoreline of several natural canals. Campsites have water and electrical hookups. The park has multiple sites for fishing and provides rentals of boats, kayaks and canoes. Several launches are available for those with their own boats. There are three nature trails, as well as a seven-mile canoe trail. The visitor center provides information about the park. There are several picnic areas for small groups, plus a pavilion for large gatherings.
