Service Dog Policy in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico, as a U.S. territory, falls under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Service animals are permitted in all public accommodations (businesses, transport, government buildings) without extra fees or deposits.

Handlers cannot be asked for certification, but may be asked: (1) Is the dog a service animal required for a disability? (2) What task is it trained to perform?

Emotional support animals do not have the same public access rights under ADA.
