Decide what type of year will be best for your visit. Summer has the best weather and is the only time that lakes or pools are open for swimmers. As it is also the most popular time of the year, be sure to make reservations early if you are planning a summer vacation. Spring and fall are also good times to visit. Temperatures are still pleasant, and the crowds are smaller. If you enjoy colder temperatures, winter may be the perfect time for your visit.
Select the type of cabin you would like to rent. Some states offer identical cabins in every state park. That is not the case in Arkansas. Each park offers its own types of cabins, all of them offering all of the modern amenities. Most cabins have televisions, and some parks offer satellite TV. Inside the cabin, you will find comfortable furnishings, modern bathrooms and kitchens. All linens, dishes, pots and pans are supplied. Internet access is also available in many cabins. While some cabins are given the name “rustic,” they offer all of the modern amenities, such as indoor plumbing, air-conditioning, heat and comfortable furnishings. In addition to individual cabins, Crowley’s Ridge State Park also offers a group lodging area consisting of five bunk cabins, a kitchen/dining hall and a bathhouse.
Book the cabin of your choice. Reservations can be made online or by calling or writing the individual parks. Reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance. If you are part of a large group, you may make a reservation two years in advance. You must be 18 or older to rent a cabin. Cabin rates are based on two people and extra person charges apply. Children 12 and under stay free with their parents.
Begin planning your visit. Each park has its own individual list of activities and recreational offerings, many of which are sure to interest you.
