Choose a campground. South Carolina State Parks offer over 3,000 campgrounds with a wide range of activities and amenities. Sites are available for tents, recreational vehicles and camping trailers. Many parks have a small number of pull-through sites that will accommodate larger RVs. Water and electric hookups are available at many parks, as are dump stations and restrooms. A listing of campgrounds can be found on the South Carolina State Parks website link located in the Resources section of this article.
Try boat-in camping for a more primitive camping experience. These tent campsites, accessible only by boat, are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Boat-in campsites are available at Cheraw and Devils Fork State Parks and do not offer water, electrical service or restrooms.
Spend a week at a cabin. Cabins are available with one to three bedrooms, depending on the park. Cabins offer kitchens, bathrooms, cable television, grills and picnic tables. Some cabins also offer fireplaces, screened porches or sleeper sofas in the living areas. Pots, pans, dishes and linens are provided. Cabin rentals are available at Dresher Island State Recreational Area, Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area, and Myrtle Beach, Oconee, Poinsett, Santee, Table Rock, Barnwell, Cheraw, Devils Fork, Edisto Beach, Givhans Ferry, Hickory Knob and Hunting Island State Parks.
