State & County RV Parks in South Carolina

South Carolina's mild weather and variety of terrain makes the Palmetto State an ideal place for RV camping year round. From lush mountain parks in the Blue Ridge Mountains to beachfront campsites along the Carolina coast, most of the state's public parks offer full service amenities that bring the comforts of home to any camper's vacation.
  1. Sesquicentennial State Park

    • Sesquicentennial State Park is located in the sandhills region northeast of Columbia, South Carolina. Constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, this suburban park features 1,419 acres of recreation land that is popular with locals and hosts group camp outs, reunions and nature programs. The park features a 30-acre fishing lake, picnic pavilions, playground, multi-use trails, a dog park, meeting facility and a ropes course for team-building events. There are 17 RV campsites, including 14 pull-through sites featuring water and 30-amp electricity. RVs up to 35 feet long can be accommodated. The park is open year-round. It has restrooms and a RV dump station, but no showers.

    James Island County Park

    • James Island County Park is a 643-acre recreation area and full service RV campground near downtown Charleston. The park features large, grassy meadows, saltwater fishing and crabbing for licensed anglers, multi-use recreation trails, a children's playground and play fountain area, off-leash dog park and picnic areas with tables and barbecue grills. There is also a climbing facility and water park, boat and bicycle rentals, meeting space and reception facilities. The park also features 124 wheelchair accessible RV campsites with full hookups including water, sewer and 20-, 30- or 50-amp electricity on every site as well as fire rings and barbecue grills. Other guest amenities include free wireless Internet, laundry facilities, bath houses, an activity center, propane, ice and firewood sales.

    Chau Ram County Park

    • Chau Ram County Park is a 200-acre park located in Oconee County, near the city of Westminster. Campers are treated to a spectacular 40-foot waterfall, the longest suspension bridge in the county and four sets of rapids for kayaking, canoeing and river tubing. There is also fishing access, a playground and a kayak slalom course. The park has 28 shaded tent and RV campsites with power and water. There is also an RV dump station and restrooms.

    Lake Greenwood State Park

    • Lake Greenwood State Park is a 1930s-era Civilian Conservation Corps park located on a series of peninsulas on Lake Greenwood. The lake has over 212 miles of shoreline and 11,400 acres of year-round water recreation opportunities. This 914-acre park is located northwest of Columbia near the city of Greenwood. There are 125 paved RV campsites with water, electricity and picnic tables. RVs up to 40 feet can be accommodated and management welcomes leashed, well-behaved pets. Guest amenities include free wireless Internet access, restrooms with showers and a RV dump station. The park also has a playground, picnic shelters, education center and hiking and biking trails.
