  1. Hip Kitty

    • This after-hours jazz and fondue club is located in The Packing House shopping center. You'll want to be there before 8 p.m. to get a seat---that's when the music starts. The stage decor is lush, with saffron-colored curtains and a plethora of Moroccan-inspired hanging lanterns. If you're more into rock than jazz, come on a Thursday when local bands are given a chance to shine. To encourage late-night dining, you'll get midnight specials on dinners for two. Choose from fondue combos, including jalapeno gouda with beer or cheddar with roasted garlic and zinfandel. Open Tuesday through Sunday until 2 a.m.

    Montana's

    • This western-themed nightclub in nearby San Dimas (less than six miles from Claremont) is a good choice for dancing, drinks and uptempo country music. Open to anyone 21 and over, this club knows that not everyone knows how to do the tush push or two step---that's why it offers an hour's worth of lessons before the music starts playing. Come early for the lesson at 7 p.m. (and for a cheaper cover charge), then strut your stuff. The décor and dress code are casual---shorts and cowboy boots are just fine. The dance floor is enormous, so you'll have plenty of room to master the boot scootin' boogie. Open Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m.
