What type of primary does Ohio have?

Ohio has a semi-closed primary. This means that only registered voters of a particular party can vote in that party's primary. However, independent voters can choose to vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary. In order to do so, they must declare their party preference at the polls on Election Day.
