What does a temperate forest feel like?

Air:

- Cool, humid air

- Mild breezes

- Fragrant, with the scent of pine needles and leaves

Underfoot:

- Soft and spongy, covered in a thick layer of moss and fallen leaves

- Occasional rocky outcrops

- Small streams or rivers with clear, cold water

Surroundings:

- Tall trees with dense canopies that block out much of the sunlight

- Filtered light creates a dappled effect on the forest floor

- Lush undergrowth of ferns, wildflowers and shrubs

- Occasional clearings with tall grass and wildflowers

- Sounds of birdsong, and the rustling of leaves in the wind
