Narrow your search by defining a specific region. The Outer Banks is made up of three main areas: the Northern Beaches, Hatteras Island and Roanoke Island. There are places to stay all over, but if you narrow your search to one region you will probably have an easier time booking a vacation rental.

If you're planning a short stay, find places that offer partial week rentals. While vacation rentals are usually only considered for stays of one week or longer, there are some that now allow you to stay for less than a week.
