Eligibility:
1. Cohabitating Relationship: The partners must have been living together in an intimate relationship for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of application.
2. Age: Both partners must be at least 18 years old.
Additional Requirements:
1. Intent to Remain in Partnership: The partners must intend to continue their intimate relationship and remain domestic partners indefinitely.
2. Financial Interdependence: The partners must have some degree of financial interdependence, which can be demonstrated through joint bills, shared living expenses, or other financial arrangements.
3. Emotional and Physical Interdependence: The partners must have an emotionally and physically intimate relationship characteristic of a marital relationship, including mutual support, affection, and shared responsibilities.
4. Exclusion of Others: The partners must not be legally married to or in a domestic partnership with any other person.
5. Residence: At least one of the partners must be a resident of Westchester County.
6. Application Process: The partners need to file a Domestic Partnership Declaration form at the Westchester County Clerk's Office. The form requires personal information, proof of residency, and supporting documentation, such as a joint lease or utility bills.
7. Required Documentation: Along with the application, partners must provide valid government-issued photo identification, proof of residency (such as a driver's license or utility bill), and a statement affirming the truth of the information provided in the application.
