Taking a vacation requires careful planning, especially when it comes to finances. We all look at accommodation costs and airline fees automatically when considering what that much needed vacation is going to cost. If you are planning a road trip, you should consider the toll charges you may incur. There is no easy way to come up with this calculation because tolls change from road to road and state to state. Most crucial routes will provide that information for you online. When making your plans, map out your trip and visit the websites for each main road to calculate what the tolls will cost.
Draw out your travel route on a map. Make a list of all the toll roads on which you will be driving.
Locate the internet sites for each toll road. For instances, if you were traveling in New York State, you might use the New York State Thruway--they have a website that will calculate the tolls for your trip. If there is no online calculator, most sites will list the tolls along the route. Write them down and add the fees together for that road. Unfortunately, this must be done for each road.
Write down the total for each individual road.
Add the totals up for the roads along your trip. This is the total calculation for the tolls on your journey.
