How to Calculate New Jersey Turnpike Tolls

The New Jersey Turnpike isn't just a backdrop in the opening sequence of the popular cable television show "The Sopranos." It was the first toll road in the state and third to exist in the nation when it was open to public traffic in 1951. The New Jersey Turnpike was built in two years and stretches about 150 miles across the length of the state. You can calculate tolls in preparation for a trip on its website.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the New Jersey Turnpike toll page at state.nj.us/turnpike/toll-rates.

    • 2

Click on "Toll Rates" under the New Jersey Turnpike heading.

    • 3

Select a printable toll rate schedule to keep in your car. Or use the online toll rate calculator. Click on the type of calculator that applies to your vehicle and press "start calculator." Choose your entry and exit points from the drop-down menus, select your payment method, then click "calculate toll." Your mileage between the two points and the amount you will owe at the booth will appear at the bottom of the screen.
