How Many Beaches Are in New Jersey?

New Jersey may be called the Garden State, but it could easily be called the Beach Basin. From the southernmost tip of Cape May northwards to Sandy Hook, New Jersey has some of the cleanest and prettiest private and public beaches around.
  1. Coast Line

    • The New Jersey Coastline spans over 127 miles. While the official count of private beaches has never been done, funnj.com lists the number at a "gazillion." That's a lot of beaches.

    • There are 63 listed public beaches up and down the Jersey Coast. Most beaches provide lifeguards, concession stands, restrooms, umbrella rentals and some recreational activities in season.
