Mystic Islands, New Jersey Beaches

Mystic Island is located in the township of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. It is a destination community for tourists and those looking for vacation homes on the coast or near Atlantic City, just 10 miles south. Within a 20-mile radius are several beaches where visitors can watch the water, soak in the sun or swim.
  1. Mystic Beach

    • Southwest of Little Egg Inlet, beside Great Bay Marina, is a small, non-supervised beach. This short beach lies at the end of Radio Road running along the Mystic Island community. It offers parking with a great view of the water, a nearby marina and a small sandy cove at the end of the beach where visitors can enjoy a sunset or picnic. Lifeguards don't supervise the water, and it lacks public restrooms and facilities. If you are looking for a quiet beach to watch the water, this is it.

    Tuckerton Beach

    • The small town of Tuckerton about four to five miles north of Mystic Island features a little beach of the same name. Besides the water, the main attraction of this beach, which lies at the very end of South Green Street, is the Tuckerton Beach Grille. Built right on the water, visitors can enjoy lovely water views while they eat. Free boat docking is available across the street for those stopping in at the Grille.

    Beach Haven, New Jersey

    • This small town on Long Beach Island, East of Mystic Island, is the quintessential beach town. Visitors can peruse shops and restaurants in between walks on the beach for which the island is named. Beach badges are required to use the beach and are available at Borough Hall or the Centre Street Badge Booth. The Fantasy Island Amusement Park and Thundering Surf Water Park also keep people entertained.

Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge

    • Birdwatchers will enjoy this refuge about 16 miles to the South of Mystic Island. Established in 1984, the beach areas of this refuge are home to a number of migratory water fowl. Pick up self-guided tour pamphlets at the entrance. Find a public headquarters and auditorium where you can learn more about the local wildlife. Tour the refuge via Wildlife Drive and designated walking trails seven days a week from sunrise to sunset.
