Beaches in Point Pleasant, New Jersey

Point Pleasant Borough, home to over 18,000 residents, and neighboring Point Pleasant Beach, home to over 5,000 residents, are located in New Jersey's Ocean County, according to the cities' websites. Bordered to the east by the Atlantic, the north by the Manasquan River and the south by Beaver Dam Creek, the greater Point Pleasant area offers a variety of water-based activities. Beach access is available at both public and privately owned beaches.

  1. Jenkinson's Boardwalk

    • Lifeguards patrol the beach at Jenkinson's.

      Jenkinson's is a private sandy beach, accessible with a daily or seasonal badge available at the business office or the beach gates. Lifeguards patrol the beach during the hours of summer operation and swimmers are advised not to frequent unguarded areas. Coolers are allowed but are subject to inspection, as alcohol is not permitted, nor are pets. Umbrellas and beach chairs are available for beachgoers to rent and Jenkinson's offers a variety of other activities near the beach. An aquarium features sharks, penguins and seals, an amusement area features rides and a boardwalk and four dining options range from a casual pizza place to a full service restaurant with a sushi bar. Jenkinson's beach is located near the corner of Ocean and Arnold avenues and offers a paid all-day parking lot.

    Maryland Avenue Public Beach

    • Beach access is available to the public on Maryland Avenue.

      Located on Maryland Avenue near Bay Head, this beach consists of 1.03 acres of waterfront property, and an adjacent undeveloped open area adds another quarter of an acre. A fee is charged to access the beach and lifeguards are on duty each day. To reach the Maryland Avenue Beach, follow Maryland Avenue to Ocean Avenue and look for a small blue sign and then locate the entrance directly across from the Dunes Motel, according to Shore Advantage.

    Martell's Tiki Bar and Beach Club

    • Relax on the beach at Martell's Tiki Bar.

      Martell's offers private beach access with the purchase of a daily or seasonal pass and rental beach chairs. Children under age 12 are free with an adult at Martell's and lifeguards monitor the area. Food and beverages are available at the Tiki Bar and a boardwalk connects the beach to the road. Martell's is located at the intersection of Central Avenue and Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach.

    Maxson Avenue Beach and River Avenue Beach

    • Dip a toe in the sandy beaches of the Manasquan River in Point Pleasant.

      Point Pleasant Borough offers two public riverfront beaches with swimming areas, fishing piers, playgrounds and sandy beaches. Daily or seasonal beach badges are required and lifeguards are on duty during the summer months. Both beaches are located on the shores of the Manasquan River on the northern border of Point Pleasant. River Avenue and Maxson Avenue both intersect with River Road, and both avenues lead directly to the beaches which are a block apart.
