Instructions

    • 1

Choose a rosemary plant that is at least two to five years old. This gives the rosemary plant time to grow into itself to form woody stems. Up until this point, the main part of the plant is soft and green like the spiny trails that grow from it. Cut the plant as close to the soil as possible.

    • 2

Remove all of the green trailing runners that grow from the central woody stalk of the plant. You can either discard this rosemary or save it for your cooking or spiritual needs. What is left behind is the twisted woody central stalk of the plant. Keep this part.

    • 3

Use the whittling knife to carefully scrape away knots and bumps on the rosemary stalk. The twisted, woody stalk may have a lot of blemishes to cut away, or you could choose to keep it natural. Cut away from yourself with the knife to avoid harm.

    • 4

Wrap the rough side of a sandpaper square around the rosemary wand. Slide your hands up and down the length of the wand firmly. This buffs and smooths the wand so it can be held comfortably in your hand.
