What Part of Bali Should I Go to in February?

When visiting Bali, it is important to know what sort of weather to expect. Most often, temperatures are the same in Bali year-round, with a wet season that runs from September to February and a dry season the rest of the year. However, during the wet season, it usually only rains 30-60 minutes in the afternoon. The rest of the day will be warm, allowing you ample time to visit the island's many attractions. In February, the average high in Bali is 84 degrees with a low of 62.

  1. Ubud

    • The town of Ubud is one of Bali's cultural and tourist hubs. Located in the island's central foothills, Ubud is a picturesque place of rice paddies and beautiful ravines. It is most famous for Balinese music and dance shows. It is also a good escape for those who want to avoid the heat and tourist crunch of southern Bali. Ubud has more forests and rivers, as well as less congestion than other popular parts of the island. It is also the home of the Ubud Monkey Forest, a nature preserve where hundreds of Macaque monkeys live.

    Nusa Lembongan

    • Nusa Lembongan is an island located just southeast of Bali. Though it is developed for tourism, there are no cars or motorcycles on Nusa Lembongan, making it a peaceful place to escape the bustle of the main island. Most of the island's 7,000 inhabitants live in two villages. Nusa Lembongan is only one of three islands off Bali that has been developed for tourism. The island's other main source of income is seaweed harvesting. Nusa Lembongan is a place of pristine beaches where people come to surf and relax.

    Kuta

    • For something completely different, visit Kuta, one of Bali's first tourist destinations. Though somewhat of a tourist trap now, Kuta has a kitschy charm that is undeniable. For those looking to party, hang out in bars or dance the night away, Kuta is the place to visit. Be ready to be swarmed by merchants and hawkers who will try to sell you everything from suntan lotion to pirated DVDs. As chaotic as it sounds, Kuta is also home to a beautiful beach that attracts surfers and beach bums worldwide and a thriving restaurant and hotel scene that still retains some of its original Balinese charm.
