You love the attractions on The Strip, but your main interest in Vegas is gambling. Though there are more lucrative games, the slots are an easy way to spend a few hours and possibly come out ahead. There's a difference in the payback according to where Vegas you're playing in, and knowing how to find the best odds can make the slots a successful gambling venture.
Find the areas that aren't on The Strip or Fremont Street. These are usually considered locals' casinos, and tend to have better odds overall.(See "How to Find the Locals' Casinos," under Related eHows.)
Locate transportation to locals' casinos by asking at your hotel desk. Usually there is free transportation to several of the casinos. Get recommendation from the desk clerk on the one that will pay out the most. Of course, this will vary, depending on their favorite.
Walk around once you're in the casino. Note the denomination (quarters, nickels, dollars) that's winning and play that denomination.
Check out the type of machine is winning. For example, it may be a 5 line 5x's machine. Find other machines of the same type around the casino and play them. Many times the same types of machines are hitting at the same time.
Check the payout chart on the machines to make certain you are getting the most for your money. Payouts will vary greatly within the same denomination.
Play at least times on a slot machine. Unless you feel strongly about the machine, move on if it isn't paying.
