About Taxi Rides Between Disney World Resorts

Walt Disney World provides many activities outside the theme parks. It has a well-developed and free transportation system, but using it can be time consuming. Sometimes, a taxi ride might be a better option.
  1. Disney World Transportation Limits

    • The free transportation from resorts to the parks and Downtown Disney runs every 20 minutes on average. You might have to wait longer if the bus, boat or monorail is filled to capacity. Additionally, with some exceptions, there is no direct transportation between the resorts.

    Mears Transportation

    • Mears owns and operates the majority of taxi companies in the greater Orlando, Florida, area, including Yellow Cab. It is the official provider of taxi services in the Disney World Resort. All Mears taxis are metered unlike some of the independent operators' taxis.

    Getting a Taxi

    • You can ask the hotel's bell service to call a taxi for you or you.

    Fare

    • Be sure to ask the anticipated fare before getting in the cab. This is especially important in unmetered taxis. You might end up getting grossly overcharged if you don't negotiate a fare in advance in unmetered taxis.

    Benefits

    • Taking a taxi gets you to your destination directly. You are also guaranteed a seat, which you might not find on the public transportation during busy times at Disney World.
