Is it ok to date your cousin in Scotland?

It is illegal to marry a cousin in Scotland. According to the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977, it is illegal to marry someone who is related to you within the following degrees of kinship:

- a brother or sister

- a half-brother or half-sister

- an uncle or aunt

- a niece or nephew

- a grandparent

- a grandchild

- a cousin

This means that you cannot marry your first cousin, your second cousin, or any other cousin who is related to you within these degrees of kinship.
