Napa Valley Wine Train offers many different wine tours. Each of the tours comes with a three-course gourmet lunch as you travel by rail through the valley. The Valley First Tour focuses on the lesser known east side vineyards such a Raymond Family Vineyards. The Domaine Chandon Winery Tour is only offered on weekends. This includes an afternoon tea before you board the train to return. You can get to the Wine Train via ferry from San Francisco, leaving at around 8 a.m. and returning at 7 p.m. The Wine Train offers a shuttle from the ferry depot to the train depot.
The Wine Train also offers dinner packages complete with a ride on the antique train. You can choose between a five-course or four-course gourmet meal. The train departs in the evening, winding through the Napa Valley. You can enjoy the view while you take in your food and wine. The rail car is a 1952 Pullman, complete with domed windows, giving you a greater view of the surrounding vineyards. During certain times of the year you will be able to enjoy the sunset as the train travels along the rail.
The Wine and Dine Tour offers pick up from the train followed by exclusive tours throughout the wine valley. This organization offers wine cave dinners, which allow you to enjoy wine in a candlelit setting. Most of the wineries have art collections you can enjoy as well as world-class chefs to prepare your meal. Occaisionally, the venues put together live entertainment for the events. You can tour the area by limo or bus. Take the train from San Francisco over to the valley, about a 30 minute ride, and be picked up to begin your tour.
