You can step back in time aboard a steam train chugging through the Rocky Mountain's silver mining country. Themed adventures, such as a murder mystery train, are available, as are gourmet meal train rides. A Swiss railcar will take you on the breathtaking 14,000-foot ascent to the top of Pike's Pike.
Adult ticket prices range from $22.50 for an hour-long tour to $110 for a murder mystery train ride that includes a three-course meal. Children's ticket prices are usually less expensive and can range from $16.50 for an hour-long tour to $34 aboard a Santa Claus-themed train ride. These prices are valid as of October 2010.
Many train tours operate seasonally, with daily schedules offered late spring and all summer, and with weekend schedules beginning in the fall and lasting through the winter. Snow covers parts the Rocky Mountains for much of the year so having warm clothing available is advisable even in summer.
