Train tours cover some of the most picturesque parts of Britain. You can tour the Scottish Highlands visiting Loch Ness and historic Edinburgh or travel the Pennines though Lancashire and Yorkshire. Further south, you can travel by train along the Devon coastline.
You can take UK rail tours on mainline routes by normal trains or on special excursions by steam train. You can also travel by steam train on a number of heritage railways which have been restored by steam enthusiasts. Many of these, including the Caledonian Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway,have museums where you can learn about the railway's history.
A number of companies provide day trips and longer tours on UK railways. There are daylong steam trips to all parts of the UK and tours up to eight days through Scotland, Cornwall and the Peak District.
