The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Train is a historic train from the 1880s that has traveled from Durango, Colorado, to Silverton, Colorado, for 128 years. It is one of the American Heritage Railways tours that explores scenic areas in the West.
The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad tour passes through 53 miles of valleys and river gorges in western North Carolina. Tourists learn about the history of the Murphy Branch of the railway, which has existed since the 1800s. The Murphy Branch opened up travel in and out of the remote Great Smoky Mountains region.
Attached to Amtrak trains are vintage rail cars, historic rail carriages that have been preserved and refurbished to provide the comfort of modern travel. There are several trips choose from, including coast-to-coast and Alaskan tours.
