Weather-wise, fall is the best time to visit San Francisco. Bright warm days give way to clear starry nights and the rain rarely falls. As winter overtakes autumn in late November, conditions take a turn for the cool and wet. Travelers should also keep in mind that weather in San Francisco can vary from neighborhood to neighborhood at any given time, so whenever they are visiting it's a good idea to have both indoor and outdoor activities on their itinerary. Blazing Saddles

  Located on Fisherman's Wharf, Blazing Saddles is the perfect place to rent a bike for a trip over the Golden Gate Bridge. Visitors explore neighboring towns like Mill Valley and Sausalito and if they are too tired to bike back over the bridge, they can hop on a ferry that will take them right back to the wharf. Musee Macanique

  If the weather takes a turn for the worst while walking the wharf, visitors can duck into this warehouse at Pier 45, which houses a collection of coin operated amusements. Player pianos, 1980s arcade games, robotic fortune tellers and dancing dummies are just a few of the curiosities that guests will discover at the Musee Macanique. Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Ghirardelli Square

  Locals and out-of-towners celebrate the start of the Christmas Season with the annual tree lighting ceremony that takes place late November in Ghiradelli Square.
