The San Jose Improv comedy club offers shows every night of the week except Monday. The club plays host to professional comedians as well as competitions to find the next star of comedy. The Fahrenheit Ultra Lounge, located in downtown San Jose, is the ultimate late night experience. The club offers dining, drinking and dancing all under one roof. The San Jose Repertory Theatre--known locally as San Jose Rep--opened in 1980 and has been entertaining the city's residents and visitors ever since. The theater produces its own shows, usually around six per year. Approximately 100,000 patrons come out to see its performances annually. Working with the local community has always been part of the inspiration behind the San Jose Rep; its staff enjoy giving back to the community by hosting "pay what you want" nights and organizing food drives for the underprivileged populace of San Jose.
